When EndoFound relaunched its virtual End Endo 5K in 2024 after a two-year hiatus, organizers didn’t know how much interest it would generate.
“We set a $30,000 goal, hoping we’d reach it, but we were absolutely blown away when our incredible community raised over $50,000,” said Julie Edwards, EndoFound’s strategic fundraising and campaigns manager. “It was an amazing outpouring of support. We’re deeply humbled and grateful for every participant, donor, and supporter.”

That support came from an astounding 343 individuals and 64 teams. Their fundraising success was the catalyst for raising the goal to $50,000 for this year’s event, which will take place from September 15-21. Registration is now open!
Participants can complete their five kilometers over those seven days by any means they wish, such as walking, running, bike riding, dancing, horse riding, roller skating, or kayaking. EndoFound will provide registrants with resources to set up fundraising pages and track progress, and the organization will potentially highlight participants’ photos on social media during the campaign. All money raised will go to EndoFound’s programs for endometriosis research, advocacy, and education.
EndoFound created the End Endo 5K in the summer of 2020 in lieu of Team EndoStrong’s participation in the New York City Marathon, which was canceled due to COVID-19. The marathon returned to the streets in 2021, and the virtual 5K continued that year. EndoFound did not run the 5K in 2022 or 2023, but the success of last year’s relaunch was evidence that endometriosis awareness is increasing, and those affected in any way by the disease want to be part of the long-term solution. EndoFound intends to keep that momentum going with this year’s 5K.
“The excitement [last year] was contagious,” Edwards said, “and we’re confident this year will be even bigger and better!”
