Endometriosis Foundation of America Mission Statement

From its founding vision articulated by Dr. Seckin, the Endometriosis Foundation of America (EndoFound) has been committed to nothing less than redefining the future of women’s reproductive health. Over the past 2 decades, EndoFound has transformed endometriosis from a silenced condition into a globally recognized disease of urgent scientific and social consequence.

Our mission is to elevate the discourse around endometriosis beyond medicine, into the realm of equality and human rights. By championing early diagnosis, advancing expert surgical training, and integrating endometriosis education into medical schools and universities, we ensure that the next generation of physicians — and society at large — recognize women’s pain as valid, urgent, and deserving of answers. Education is extended not only to women but also to men, families, and communities, reshaping how reproductive health is understood and respected.

EndoFound’s work has reached far beyond the clinic: through global advocacy and a powerful social media presence, the foundation has given millions of women a voice, shattering taboos and reshaping the cultural narrative around menstrual and reproductive health. In doing so, it has advanced women’s standing in both healthcare and society, linking reproductive justice to the broader pursuit of gender equality.

At the core of our scientific mission lies the establishment of the Seckin Endometriosis Research Center at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, a pioneering effort harnessing genomics to uncover the biological truths of this complex disease. This bold initiative represents the culmination of years of advocacy and research investment — a gateway to the groundbreaking discoveries that will not only change how endometriosis is treated but ultimately redefine the scientific landscape of women’s health.

EndoFound exists to close the historical gap in knowledge, compassion, and equality. Our mission is to ensure that endometriosis is no longer dismissed or misunderstood but recognized as a medical, social, and human rights issue — with solutions driven by science, education, and advocacy on a global scale.
