Lisa Halvorson

Lisa Halvorson, MD

Lisa Halvorson, MD is Chief of the Gynecologic Health and Disease Branch (GHDB) in the Division of Extramural Research at the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD). The GHDB supports basic, translational and clinical research programs related to gynecologic health throughout the reproductive lifespan. Studies include menstrual disorders, uterine fibroids, endometriosis, adenomyosis, polycystic ovary syndrome, pelvic floor disorders, and chronic pelvic pain. Dr. Halvorson joined NICHD in 2014 from the Dept. of OB/GYN at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center where she was a Professor in the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, as well as a member of the Integrative Biology Graduate Program. As an NIH-funded investigator, she has published extensively in the field of neuroendocrinology with a focus on the molecular mechanisms which regulate gonadotropin gene expression.
