Gamze Gürsoy, PhD

Assistant Professor of Biomedical Informatics, Columbia University Irving Medical Center

Gamze Gürsoy is the Herbert Irving Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Informatics at Columbia University. Her lab focuses on developing algorithmic and machine learning approaches to address key challenges in biology and medicine. Her research aims to uncover the molecular mechanisms underlying gene dysregulation through functional genomics data, quantify and mitigate privacy risks associated with sharing and analyzing omics datasets, and integrate clinical and genetic information to improve the precision of patient phenotyping. They design adaptable computational methods that keep pace with emerging data modalities and analytical demands, with particular emphasis on privacy-preserving analysis and knowledge extraction.
