The Endometriosis Foundation of America is hosting the 11th Annual Patient Day: Live Your Best Life with Endo

The Endometriosis Foundation of America is hosting the 11th Annual Patient Day: Live Your Best Life with Endo

The Endometriosis Foundation of America is hosting the 11th Annual Patient Day: Live Your Best Life with Endo on Saturday, March 14, 2020, at the Alexandria Center for Life Science in New York City. Endometriosis is a disease that affects one in ten women in the United States. It is a leading cause of female infertility and hysterotomy and is a known precursor to ovarian cancer.

"We have an exceptional faculty comprised of members from the research, medical, and patient communities looking forward to presenting and engaging in some lively discussion," said Margaret Cianci, Executive Director of EndoFound. “From nutrition and exercise to insurance coverage and fertility, Patient Day will highlight topics often stigmatized and work to uncover the truth in every arena of this disease for women of every age.”

Patient Day is full of informative presentations like Follow Your Gut: Anti-Inflammatory Foods and How Pain Affects the Brain.  Dr. Karli Goldstein, endometriosis surgeon and EndoFound board member will discuss what doctors learn from patients. New York State Senator Sue Serino, will share how to Advocate in Your State, and journalist and patient advocate, Diana Falzone, will present the keynote. There are several patient panels and sessions guaranteed to get the conversation going, including Stump Your Surgeon and Ask Me Anything.

We’re also thrilled to feature a stand-up performance by Eleanor Thom, author of the memoir Private Parts: How to Really Live with Endometriosis. On Private Parts, Phoebe Waller-Bridge has said, “Your head will explode with what you’ll learn and your heart will explode with the courage of this author. She’s truly extraordinary.”

"We believe that living with this disease requires a collaborative and interdisciplinary effort that prioritizes the patient's voice, so in addition to presentations, this year, we have programmed a diverse series of patient panels, networking sessions, patient presentations, and a cocktail reception for the ultimate networking. When you leave, you will be armed with some of the best tools to Live Your Best Life with Endo, and we hope a whole new support group of friends, too," said Cianci.

Patient Day is part of a three-day conference that includes a postgraduate training course for medical professionals and residents, and a two-day international medical symposium.

Presenting sponsor is Northwell Health. Sponsors include AAGL, SEUD, ISGE, MyEndometriosisTeam, and Ob.Gyn.News/MDEdge and Everyday Health.
