Blossom Ball 2018 - Winnie Chan

- I didn't know it was that common. I thought it was just cramps that you have every month, and you just bear with it, and don't be a crybaby, and it will get over in a couple of days and then you'll be fine again. I thought every other woman was experiencing the same thing. I'm on birth control pills so I know the exact dates when my period will come. I would really plan my year out. It's just four or five days, empty out your calendar, you're not going anywhere. And those specific dates will most likely land on Thanksgiving or Christmas. If it lands on your birthday, no birthday parties. Just don't think about it. Just get it over with for a couple of days and then you'll feel better. Initially, I kept it like a secret. I was hiding it, because, I don't want to show my family and friends that I'm in pain. I'd rather hide myself at home than bear the pain. I thought it was okay to cover it up for a few days, and then I'll spring right back up. I didn't realize that it's so invasive. So many different organs in my body. That's why it's so hard, because the hardest part is not the physical pain, it's seeing your family members cry and worry about you. I just don't want my family members to worry. I think there should be more awareness through different connections. You can actually help one another. If I felt that, "Oh, my friend had it", or, "my friends friend had it", or "somebody had it", I could reach out and talk to that person. I could feel it's okay to talk about it.
