Latia Lee

Registered Nurse, Patient, & Advocate
Bay Shore, NY

Latia Lee is a Registered Nurse who has a strong passion for patient advocacy. She was diagnosed with Stage 4 Endometriosis in 2017 after suffering with debilitating pain for 23 years. It was through research and self-advocacy that Ms. Lee self-diagnosed herself and finally received the gold standard treatment, laparoscopic excision surgery. Latia strives to bring awareness to this very debilitating disease and empower women to seek the proper medical treatment they desperately need and deserve. “Early detection and treatment are so essential with Endometriosis. No woman should have to wait 23 years for diagnosis and treatment of Endometriosis. This is unacceptable.” Multiple articles and videos sharing Latia’s Endometriosis journey have been published on both Endofound and the Seckin Endometriosis Center's websites. “Women need to know that they are not alone and that their feelings are very real and valid.

As a patient who has had 4 excision surgeries covered by their insurance company, she offers guidance and advice in case management to help other women achieve this very monumental goal.

Latia has also developed a passion for educating and empowering women about their infertility. Like many endometriosis patients, Latia struggled with infertility. After a 4-year infertility journey, she welcomed a healthy baby girl in 2023. “I can’t stress the importance of self-advocacy when you are suffering with infertility and loss. After multiple early losses and implantation failure, my gut told me that the cause was immune-related. I consulted a reproductive immunologist and changed to a clinic that was more progressive and offered immune protocols. This was my third infertility clinic. As a patient, it’s vital that you find a clinic where you are seen and heard and not dismissed."
