David Redwine, MD
Retired Director, Institute of Endometriosis, St. Charles Medical Center, Bend, OR
David Redwine, M.D. While in solo private practice in Bend, Oregon, Dr. Redwine made integral contributions to the understanding and surgical treatment of endometriosis and shared his expertise around the world via lectures or demonstration surgeries. Dr. Redwine has been a long-time vocal proponent for aggressive excision of endometriosis and abandonment of expensive medical treatment of symptoms. His theory of Mulleriosis put him squarely in the camp favoring a genetically-driven embryonic origin of endometriosis. Mulleriosis connotes a problem of differentiation and migration of any Mullerian tissue during embryogenesis and which results in patterned tracts of tissue laid across the posterior pelvis and elsewhere in the body in females or males. In these tracts, endometriosis will eventually be found. Excision of these tracts to a sufficient depth results in the surgical cures which are seen today.
